End of the road.

Sunday, October 21, 2007
So it looks like I'm going to have to stop hanging out with my group of friends here. This means I suddenly have no close friends anywhere near me, and I'm without a local spiritual community. I'm feeling incredibly stupid and incredibly lonely. I don't think I've ever had to step away from an entire group of friends before, it's really scaring me. But being around them makes me feel crazy and unhealthy, and I don't like the person I am when I'm around them. Unfortunately a chunk of my situation is all my fault, which is why I feel rather stupid and why all of this is hurting so much. But I think this would have ended up happening anyway, without my "contribution."

So what do I do now? What do I do until I get back to La Capital?

On the Night Shift.

Tuesday, October 16, 2007
I worked my first week of night shift last week, and I made it through surprisingly well! I work at UPS from 10pm to 6:30am, sleep when I get home, then I'm up for the evening before work. And I've got to say... I feel great!! Isn't that bizarre? I know it's only been a week, and I'm giving it a few weeks before I give a more informed opinion, but this night shift thing is working for me! I think it's because I can sleep any time of day, so sleeping during the day is not difficult for me. Some of my co-workers are having a tough time with it, but it could partly be because they have kids, or they are in school and taking classes, etc. Anyway, I'm enjoying it so far. And I have weekends off, so I don't miss anything then! :)

In other news, my poor baby cat has a bladder infection. Again. He had one when I was away on my placement earlier this year. My wonderful parents took care of him then. Now he's got another one, so $115.72 later, he's got two week's worth of antibiotics and a week's worth of anti- inflamatory stuff to get him well again. This means I have the privilege of giving a cat a pill twice a day for two weeks. Yippy skippy. :P I'll just be relieved when he's all better.

I've also had more opportunity to hang out with a few of my young cousins in the past few weeks. Last weekend I hung out with my 11 year old cousin (who feels more like a niece because of her age!) at my parents' place. We sewed most of the day, making matching sleep pants out of fabric my mom bought when we were in VT for my brother's wedding. My cousin loved the fabric, and we had a great time together! She's such a great kid.

Then this weekend, I'm going to another cousin's 11th birthday party! I still need to figure out what to get him. He's growing so tall, too! That kid gets taller every time I see him, I swear. :) This weekend is his "adult" birthday party where all his grown-up friends are invited, and last weekend was the "kid" party when all of his peers came over. Not bad, two parties. :)

Well, that's it for this update. Miss you all! ((HUG))

Happy Turkey Day!

Sunday, October 7, 2007
Happy Thanksgiving to all my Canuck readers and visitors! Aw heck, Happy Thanksgiving to all my non-Canuck readers and visitors, too. I hope you all followed custom and consumed entirely too much poultry this holiday weekend.

Work updates:
  • I resigned from the group home this week. I really enjoyed it, but I really need the time to...
  • ... Go to full time with UPS! I start full-time over-night shifts with the megacorp this week, so I'll need to sleep all day to be up all night. Let's see how long Angela can last! :D
Life updates:
  • Friends are weird. What do you do when you find yourself not fitting in to they way that any of them seem to be running their lives lately? I mean, I'm sure I could fit in if I wanted to, but I'm quite sure that I don't. The prospect of seeking out an entirely new group of friends is rather daunting.
  • No move on school work, yet. I've been using the excuse of working 2 jobs to not work on my papers. Now that I have one job, I'll either have to start the papers again, or knit. Guess which one will win out? ;)
And thanks to everyone who mentioned they're actually dropping by once in awhile. Good to know there's a point to this. G'night!

Is this thing on?

Does anyone even read this? It seems that since I started blogging again, everyone else has stopped updating theirs. Hmm.

Any signs of life would be great! :D
