Will someone slow down the time machine?
Saturday, June 28, 2008
Okay, folks, where did June go? It went by faster than May did, and I thought that went by pretty quickly. *sigh* I think it's time to mindfully root myself in the present so I don't keep losing track of time.
I just got back from a quick walk to the local farmers' market. I only live about a block away, so even laziness is a poor excuse for not going. I treated myself to one of my favourite coffees - raspberry cream. I haven't had coffee in about two weeks, so this really was a treat. Of course, my cat thinks I got it for him and is trying to sneak sips every now and then. But now I think he's mostly distracted by the people going to and from the market. He enjoys sitting in the window and watching his "adoring public" go by. :)
I've noticed lately that I'm having a bit of a hard time with a lack of daylight. "LACK of daylight," you say, "but it's the middle of the summer!" Yes, that's true. But when you work the night shift, you don't get the benefits of all that daylight. I keep the shades down during the day so I can sleep, then it's dark all night when I'm awake. I've found it harder to sleep after work because the sun is already high in the sky at 6:30am when I finish work, which puts my schedule even more out of whack. I'm just glad I know I won't be doing this night shift forever.
A fun bit of news this week: Kay and Jay are visiting from La Capital area! YAY!! I can't wait to see them! And Jay will be on an actual vacation this time, i.e. he won't have to work all day like he used to have to do on his "vacations." I hope to see them a few times this week, at least. There will be some of this and hopefully some of this, and maybe just some hanging out, too!
There are a few other things I want to write about, too, but I think they deserve their own separate entries. So watch for those. Hopefully they won't take a month to be written down. :)
Have a great weekend, all, and HAPPY CANADA DAY!
